So to recap the mushy peas brief...
The penultimate mini project that made up the unit was titled 'Old from New'. We were given the choice of several dated food substances ranging from fondue, to tinned vegetables. I opted for something I hadn't even tasted before but which was very much given what I like to call the 'Marmite stigmatism' of either being loved or hated.
Mushy Peas.
I decided to suggest mushy peas as an ingredient as opposed to an accompaniment. I wanted to create a brand and product which appealed to young experimental cook. This took several hours of ingredient testing to determine flavour variations. I came up with around 4 which included: Chilli & Ginger, Balsamic & Thyme, Olive Oil and Sage, and Orange & Cinnamon. The packaging designs all followed the same structure with an alternating colour marking the different flavours. They would be sold separately in sachets to simply tear open, pour into: curries, sauces etc and recycled. The two tabs on the base allow the sachet to stand upright and aesthetically look organic and simple.
